===== What does DCA Alert do during scramble execution? ===== * An alert Flight will takeoff direct to the intercept point, without going to its orbit first * The Flight will check in with its sector controller (if it has one) upon takeoff. The sector controller can provide vector updates * If the sector controller says the intercept is canceled, the Flight will cancel its intercept vector and go directly to its orbit * If there is no controller, the Flight will vector to the point of the last known intercept and attempt to detect its target Flight BSE ID using its own sensor Note: The Sector Controller will (only) scramble flights or vector flights in CAPs to intercept if it detects enemy tracks that are predicted to penetrate each one of the Zones in the Sector. Consider this in your design of Regions/Sectors/Zones. Note: If the controller thinks it needs more alert Flights ready, it will order Alert 2s on the ATO to Alert 1 status%%--%%even though they are not yet available. Then, when their launch block arrives, they come on alert at Alert 1, rather than 2, and scramble faster than expected. This "feature" has been identified as a change request.
