Image

Image is the Smalltalk term for a version of a program. An image is nothing more than a snapshot (image) of the JAS code at a particular point in time. Images have .icx as their filename suffix.

There are two kinds of images: packaged and open.

A packaged image is an image that has had extraneous code removed (stripped) from it. Most JAS users will use a packaged image.

An open image provides access to the JAS source code, and allows you to run, change, and execute it. You need a license for Visual Age Smalltalk to use an open image.
