Instruments and runtime speed

Running a simulation in JAS with all instruments can increase the runtime by 70 to 100%. A large JAS scenario can produce from 2 to 6 million instrument records.

You can reduce JAS runtime by collecting only those instruments that are relevant to your analysis. For instance, there is probably no need to collect the logistics (TLS and TLT) instruments when doing an ASW study.

Having said that, these are the instruments that tend to be the 'heavy-hitters' in terms of number of records produced in a simulation run:

Additionally, the instruments in the Diagnostic category provide no analytical information and can safely be left turned off.
