Be aware of TPFDD flow when planning alerts; while you may designate an Air Unit/squadron to provide a number of aircraft for regional alert, if they aren’t there (TPFDD, maritime assets not yet within range, no SCLs, etc) they won’t provide any alert aircraft.

Be aware of apportionment. If a unit designated to provide alert aircraft is apportioned for DCA and Preplanned Strike (for ex.), but based on unit and platform mission preferences comes out of the LP allocated only to Preplanned Strike, it will not provide any DCA alert aircraft--even though you directed it.
