Meatloaf

  • 1 lb Wagyu ground beef (any ground beef will work)
  • 4 garlic cloves minced or 2 tablespoons of the garlic from the squeeze tubes
  • 3/4 cup diced red onion
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon Spice Islands Beau Monde seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon Spice Islands sage (or any dry sage)
  • 1 teaspoon Wright's Hickory Liquid Smoke
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sweet relish
  • 1 egg beaten in a cup with a fork
  • 1/4 cup of red or white wine (I use Sauvignon Blanc)
  1. add everything to a bowl and mix by hand
  2. let it sit for about 10 to 20 minutes to marinate and blend the flavors
  3. form patties up to an inch thick- it will be very wet try to pack them tight but they will still be very loose
  4. Set a grill at about 375 - 400 or cook in a medium hot pan
  5. Cook for about 5 minutes on each side (time will depend on thickness)
  6. Gently turn over to prevent them from breaking apart
  7. Add thinly sliced cheese after the flip if you want.
