==== 2-Day Berlin Itinerary ====

<code>

Berlin is large, so this plan focuses on the main historic and cultural highlights while keeping walking and transport manageable.
Day 1: Historic Mitte & Classic Landmarks

Morning

Brandenburg Gate – Iconic starting point and symbol of reunification.
Reichstag Building – Book the free dome visit in advance (timed entry + ID required). Great views and architecture.
Memorial to the Murdered Jews of Europe (Holocaust Memorial) – Powerful and thought-provoking.

Midday

    Walk along Unter den Linden.
Lunch near Gendarmenmarkt or Museum Island.

Afternoon

Museum Island (UNESCO site) – Choose 1–2 museums (e.g. Neues Museum for the Nefertiti bust).
Note: Pergamon Museum is largely closed for renovation.
Berlin Cathedral (Berliner Dom) – Optional climb to the dome for views.
Stroll through Nikolaiviertel (reconstructed historic quarter).

Evening

Alexanderplatz & TV Tower (Fernsehturm) for panoramic views (optional, book ahead if you want the restaurant/viewing platform).
    Dinner in Mitte or nearby.

Day 2: Berlin Wall, Street Art & Neighborhoods

Morning

East Side Gallery – Longest remaining stretch of the Berlin Wall, covered in murals. Walk the full length (best early to avoid crowds).
    Cross the Oberbaum Bridge.

Midday

Explore Kreuzberg or Friedrichshain for street art, alternative atmosphere, and lunch (great Turkish food in Kreuzberg or trendy spots in Friedrichshain).

Afternoon

Checkpoint Charlie + nearby Topography of Terror (outdoor exhibition on the Nazi regime – free and highly recommended).
Optional: Potsdamer Platz or a short walk in Tiergarten park.

Evening

Dinner in Kreuzberg, Friedrichshain, or Prenzlauer Berg.
Optional nightlife or a relaxed drink by the Spree.

Practical Tips

Transport: Get a 24- or 48-hour public transport ticket (AB zone covers most sights). The U-Bahn and S-Bahn are excellent.
Book in advance: Reichstag dome (free but mandatory registration) and any Museum Island tickets.
Walking: Day 1 is more walkable; Day 2 involves more metro/S-Bahn use.
Pace: This covers the essentials without feeling rushed. Drop the TV Tower or one museum if you prefer a slower pace.

<code>Berlin Subway & Public Transport Options for 2 Days (2026)

Berlin’s public transport system (U-Bahn, S-Bahn, trams, buses, and ferries) is excellent and integrated under the VBB network operated mainly by BVG and S-Bahn Berlin. One ticket covers everything within the chosen zones.

Fare Zones
Zone AB**: Covers almost all of Berlin (city center + outer districts). This is what most tourists need.
Zone ABC: Adds the surrounding area, including **BER Airport and Potsdam.

Rule of thumb: Buy AB for normal sightseeing. Only get ABC if you’re going to/from the airport or to Potsdam.

Best Ticket Options for 2 Days

| Option | Price (AB zone) | Best For | Notes |
|--------|------------------|----------|-------|
| 2 × 24-hour tickets | €11.20 each (€22.40 total) | Most people | Unlimited travel for 24 hours from validation. Simple and flexible. |
| 4-trip ticket (4-Fahrten-Karte) | €12.40 | Light users | 4 single journeys at a discount (€3.10 each). Can be shared. |
| Berlin WelcomeCard 48h | From ~€28.50 | Sightseeing + discounts | Unlimited transport + 25–50% off many attractions. |
| Single tickets | €4.00 each | Very few rides | Valid 2 hours in one direction (transfers allowed). |

Recommendations by Situation

Most visitors (normal sightseeing)
→ Buy two 24-hour tickets (one for each day).
Break-even is around 3 single rides per day, so this is usually the best pure transport option.

Light users / walking a lot
→ Get a 4-trip ticket (€12.40) and add single tickets or a 24-hour ticket only on your busiest day.

Want attraction discounts
→ Berlin WelcomeCard 48 hours (AB version).
It includes unlimited public transport for 48 hours from first use + discounts at many museums, towers, tours, etc.

Traveling with 2–5 people
→ Consider the 24-hour small group ticket (€35.30 for up to 5 people). Often cheaper than individual day tickets.

Airport transfer
From/to BER: Buy an ABC single ticket (€5.00) or an ABC 24-hour ticket (€12.90) if you’ll use transport a lot that day.

How & Where to Buy
Apps** (easiest): BVG Fahrinfo or Jelbi app, or VBB app.
Ticket machines at every U-Bahn/S-Bahn station (accept cards and cash).
BVG customer centers or some kiosks.
Paper tickets must be validated (stamped) before first use in the yellow/orange machines on platforms or buses.

Practical Tips
Tickets are valid on U-Bahn, S-Bahn, trams, buses, and ferries.
Always validate paper tickets immediately.
Night service is good (U-Bahn runs later on weekends; night buses fill gaps).
Children under 6 usually travel free; reduced fares apply for ages 6–14.
Download the BVG Fahrinfo or Citymapper app for real-time routes.

Quick decision guide for 2 days:
Pure transport, normal use → 2 × 24-hour AB tickets (€22.40)
Want discounts on sights → WelcomeCard 48h
Very light use → 4-trip ticket + singles as needed
