Prague is compact and very walkable. This plan covers the main highlights without feeling rushed.
Day 1: Old Town, Jewish Quarter & Charles Bridge
Morning
Old Town Square (Staroměstské náměstí) – Start early to enjoy it with fewer crowds.
Watch the Astronomical Clock (Orloj) strike the hour.
Climb the Old Town Hall Tower for excellent views (optional).
Explore the surrounding streets and Church of Our Lady before Týn.
Late Morning
Jewish Quarter (Josefov) – Visit the Old Jewish Cemetery, Spanish Synagogue,
and other historic synagogues (combined ticket recommended).
Afternoon
Walk to Charles Bridge (Karlův most). Cross it slowly, enjoying the statues
and views of the river and Prague Castle.
Continue into Malá Strana (Lesser Town) – Wander the charming streets, see
the John Lennon Wall, and stroll around Kampa Island.
Evening
Dinner in Malá Strana or Old Town (try traditional Czech food: goulash,
svíčková, or roast pork with dumplings).
Optional: Evening stroll back across Charles Bridge when it’s illuminated.
Day 2: Prague Castle & Views
Morning
Head to Prague Castle (Pražský hrad) early. Take tram 22 to the top (Pohořelec stop)
so you can walk downhill through the complex.
Must-sees: St. Vitus Cathedral, Old Royal Palace, St. George’s Basilica, and Golden Lane.
Enjoy the panoramic viewpoints over the city.
Afternoon
Descend through Malá Strana via Nerudova Street.
Optional: Visit Petřín Hill (take the funicular or walk) for the mini-Eiffel
Tower and gardens, or explore more of the quieter streets and gardens in Lesser Town.
Evening
Relax with a beer (Czech beer is excellent) or dinner with a view.
Optional short river cruise on the Vltava if time and energy allow.
Practical Tips
Getting around: Prague is very walkable. Use trams for the Castle hill
(tram 22 is useful). A 24- or 72-hour public transport pass is convenient.
Tickets: Book Prague Castle Circuit tickets and Jewish Quarter tickets online
in advance, especially in high season.
Crowds: Visit Charles Bridge and Old Town Square early in the morning or
later in the evening.
Food: Try local beer halls and traditional Czech restaurants. Avoid the
most touristy spots right on Old Town Square for better value.
Would you like a version focused more on history, food & beer, or with less walking?
