- VanEck Gold Miners ETF (GDX)

- Installed Excel 2010 32 bit.
- Also downloaded but did not install Visual Basic 2010 Express.
- Not sure if it is needed.
- new version of resetPrices.py and uptdatePrice.py to write to prices.xlsx.
- Excel 2010 will convert .xls to .xlsx but blows away the .xls file.
- copied all .xls file to Copied sub directory.
- opened each file.
- replaced indirect.ext] with indirect].
- replaced .xls] with .xlsx].
- then converted to .xlsx.
- some cells in val.xls were missing Van4 in summations.
- recorded a macro in consolidatedDaily.xlsm (.xls with macro) to open all referenced files with ctrl-o
- seem to work ok, but need more comparison with older .xls files.
- new version of resetPrices.py and uptdatePrice.py to write to prices.xlsx.
- capitalization important when referencing sheet names.
2025 4 26
- Excel 1997 will not install on current Win 10
- Excel 2003 (not sure where that came from) craps out at 95% loading ConsalidatedDaily
- Must got to 2010!

- In Excel 2010 use ='Z:\Filepath\[File.xlsx]SheetName'!A1 instead of using INDIRECT
- Look at AY999 if getting #REF!. The formula will show where the #REF is.

- Problems with Van4 locking up when pasting prices from check
- pasting one by one found a circular reference to the summary at the right had columns.
- The suggested “buy” of $12 is problematic and probably not needed at all.

- consolidatedDaily does not come up becasue it uses indirect.ext

- Got 3 Buy signals on Vanguard Health VGHCX om 2/26/2021 and sold all 25k.
- If I'd sold just the recommended 8k, I would be ahead $1600 on 9/13/2021.

- On TRP, select Exchange, then From fund.
- On Vanguard, select Sell, then pick fund to sell.

- Select the individual fund form the list to trade.
- Consolidate the IRAs once all the money gets there.

For our mutual fund accounts, we put messaging regarding our account service fee on our second quarter statements, and in July we send an email or letter to clients that are at risk of the fee. We pull the balance information on the last business day of August, and this information informs who is charged the account service fee. The fee itself is assessed in early September every year. If there is anything else we can do to assist you, please feel free to reply to this email. You may also call a customer service representative at 1-800-225-5132.

Spreadsheet
- To calculate amount to sell, use Exchange Amount. If current week price is ⇐ 95% of last week's price, use 2 * EA if account balance is >= $1500 + 2 * EA. Otherwise use EA after balance check.
- EA is .15 * (amount invested / number of funds with dollars invested).
- 2021/12/3 - new percentage calc in FSRFX checks that dollars invested is > zero.
Add New Funds
- Copy an existing sheet, preferably one with few positions.
- Update Yahoo with new symbols
- update python/funds.csv.The order is not important; excel8.py figures it out
- Rename the sheets and cell A1
- Clear any buying history

- In 25 September, use =IF(AM94>0, AM94/SUM(AJ$93:AJ94)-1,0)
- Use custom Percentage formatting of 0.00%;[Red]-0.00%
